When it comes to some relationships,
sometimes you just have to walk away.

It’s no secret that relationships are extremely difficult. Contrary to belief, difficulty does not even exclude itself from the more successful couples, problems will always be a reality for any partnership. And although trials and tribulations are inevitable, there are just some relationships that cannot be saved.

When it comes to these types of unhealthy relationships, it is important to know just when to walk away. Here are a few signs that may indicate that it is time to move on from your partner.

1. The End of Communication

Communication is key in any healthy relationship, but it truly takes practice to keep it strong in any relationship. However, communication only works if both people decide to commit to the practice. If you find yourself unable to talk to your partner about the things that matter to your relationship, it may be a sign that your relationship is coming to a painful ending. If you yourself are the silent partner in the partnership, you are aiding to its inevitable destruction. In a relationship people benefit from the practice of communication. Contrary to belief, it is not only beneficial for one gender. If you try to initiate communication and your partner remains unresponsive, it may be time to move on.

2. Infidelity

I know a lot of people may not agree with this list item, but I rarely see any couple get past infidelity. There are many reasons why cheating breaks up so many relationships, but the most significant reason has to deal with the destruction of trust. In most cases, trust has to be earned, and it is hard to get it back in a relationship that has suffered from cheating.

In most cases, a person will step out of their relationship because they are not satisfied in their current partnership. Although the best thing to do would be to communicate that to their significant other, they choose to take an immature route in the hopes of temporary satisfaction to a problem that cannot be quickly fixed. Believe it or not, there are also individuals who are not truly capable of a monogamous union. They honestly do not want to commit, but continue to get into relationships regardless. Despite the reasons behind cheating, infidelity causes some of the most severe emotional pain that one can ever face.

If you or your partner has stepped out of the relationship, it may be time to end it.

3. The Presence of the “Me” Factor

The quickest way to kill any relationship is selfishness. People get in relationships because they want to receive something tangible from another human being that contributes to their overall happiness. People want intimacy, romance, and they want someone who is going to be supportive. Too many times we seek these things without considering rather we are also giving these things to our partners as well. If you are getting what you need but your partner isn’t, you can be sure that your partner isn’t happy. And if you are the one in your relationship that is doing all the giving and receiving nothing, you probably have already pondered leaving the relationship.

Relationships involve two people that have needs that must be met. Givers get drained when they get nothing in return, and takers are usually too selfish to realize that that they have only been taking. Remember that a relationship is really just a partnership, and both people need to give and receive. If that’s not the case in your relationship and your partner isn’t trying to change that, it is easier to just walk away.

4. Too Much Pain

All relationships go through their ups and downs, but there are some relationships that have suffered more than others. And in these relationships, you will find a very scorned person. There may be a situation that you and your partner just cannot seem to get past. And in this situation, one person wants to cause pain to the other for causing problems in the relationship. Although it may seem like the best remedy for revenge, it will not help a relationship. If you know you cannot move past a hurdle in your relationship or truly forget the past problems, it is time to move forward alone.

Whatever you may be going through in your relationship, be sure to make a decision that you feel is best for you. Take your time in deciding how to move forward in your relationship, but never be afraid to walk away when you have to.
