Suffering from fatigue? Here are a few energy foods that will make you skip that cup of coffee.

Rather you are currently in school or working in the corporate world, you’re going to need all the energy you can get to survive during the week. Coffee may be your first choice for an energy boost in the mornings, but as we all learn sooner than later, coffee is a short lived energy boost that will eventually come crashing down later in the day when you need energy the most. After the caffeine and sugar has run out, you will be tired and cranky beyond functionality. Before you pick up those unhealthy energy drinks that are loaded with calories and plenty of sugar, here are some foods that will give you a boost of energy the natural way.

Mornings

In the mornings, you may be tempted to grab a big bowl of your favorite (and not so healthy) brand of cereal. The cereal that you love is probably high in sugar, and it isn’t the best choice for a filling breakfast.

Oatmeal is a great source of energy. Not only will you get a great energy boost, but oats also contain plenty of fiber and complex carbohydrates. We all eat our oatmeal a little differently, so don’t be afraid to add raisins, fruits, nuts, or whatever else you usually add to enjoy a bowl of oatmeal.

Orange juice is a better morning beverage than a cup of coffee. For one thing, it is an excellent source of Vitamin C. Vitamin C helps reduce high levels of fatigue.

Bananas are a great choice for those who have to sit behind a desk all day. Rich in potassium, bananas can help your muscles contract and prevent stiffness.

You will also need plenty of protein to increase your energy. Eggs are an awesome source of protein. While some health experts warn against eating more than three eggs weekly, it is suggested that eggs should not be consumed daily to avoid developing high cholesterol.

Lunch and Dinner

Salmon is another excellent source of protein. It is also high in omega-3 fats and B vitamins which are crucial to excellent cardiovascular health.

We may have all hated vegetables when we were kids, but they are one of the most crucial aspects of a diet high in energy. Broccoli, spinach, and asparagus are the best choices for those seeking a boost in energy. Beans are also ideal since they contain protein, fiber, and vitamins. Great foods to add beans to are salads, soups, and pastas.

Snacks

Yogurt, which is high in protein and carbohydrates, is a great energy food. It also comes in many flavors, and is a great choice for a light snack rich in energy.

Nuts such as almonds, peanuts, and soy nuts are excellent quick sources of energy. And for those who prefer seeds over nuts, pumpkin and sunflower seeds are exceptional for those suffering from fatigue.
